Chalobah had struggled to find his place in the team earlier in the season but was recalled from his loan at Crystal Palace in January.
Maresca credits Chalobah's contribution to the team's success last season, particularly in the Club World Cup final against PSG, where he played a key role.
Chalobah himself believes that having more experience has helped him take on a leadership role within the team.
He says he's now focused on guiding the younger players and helping them develop their skills.
