Tuchel explained that Foden had difficulties since the last camp, both in terms of his performance with his club and within the team. He struggled to show his skills in training and didn't feel the freedom and excitement that comes with playing his best game.

Tuchel also mentioned that Foden had been dealing with ankle problems and was still recovering from an injury. The Manchester derby had added to his difficulties, both emotionally and physically.

In making his decision, Tuchel considered both Foden's injury and his performance. He wanted Foden to focus on getting fully fit and pain-free, and to be at his best for the Club World Cup.
